All researchers and staff who want to learn more about Medea are invited to a kick-off breakfast meeting on September 16. We start at 8 AM – sharp!

Medea has now formally become a research platform at the Faculty of Culture and Society. At the kick-off we will present the plans for the fall and we will discuss what Medea may do in the future.

The breakfast is on us! But you have to register on Friday, September 11 at the latest if you want to take part.

Lämna namn till valberedningen för KS fakultetsstyrelse

Namnförslag på personer att ingå i valberedningen för val till KS fakultetsstyrelse ska lämnas senast 28 september.

Mandatperioden för KS fakultetsstyrelse går ut den 31 december 2015 och en ny styrelse ska därför utses. Första steget i processen är att utse en valberedning vars uppgift är att ta fram förslag på såväl lärarrepresentanter som externa ledamöter. Valberedningen ska bestå av fyra personer, en från respektive institution.

Anställda inom KS ombeds härmed att föreslå lärarrepresentanter från den egna institutionen att ingå i valberedningen. Den som är anställd i någon av lärarkategorierna som anges i anställningsordningen, är tillsvidareanställd eller anställd för en tid som inte är kortare än 2 år framåt och som till minst 50% utför sitt arbete inom KS verksamhetsområde kan föreslå och föreslås som kandidat till valberedningen. Doktorander undantas dock eftersom de representeras av doktorandkåren.

Efter nomineringsprocessen kommer det att genomföras ett elektroniskt val där varje institution röstar fram sin kandidat till valberedningen. En sammanvägning av resultatet kommer därefter att göras för att säkerställa att både kvinnor och män är representerade i valberedningen som sedan inom sig utser ordförande.

Personerna som föreslås till valberedningen ska vara vidtalade och ha accepterat att bli föreslagna.

Namnförslag ska skickas till Birgitta Magnusson per epost, senast 28 september.

Upprop för mänskliga rättigheter – Malmö University for Refugees

60 miljoner människor i världen är på flykt undan krig och förtryck, den högsta siffran sedan andra världskriget. Malmö högskolas studenter och personal startar nu ett upprop för mänskliga rättigheter under parollen ”Malmö University for Refugees”.

Välkommen på det första mötet på Kårhuset (Bassängkajen 8) torsdag 10 september kl 12-13. Mötet leds av rektor Cecilia Christersson, Kårens ordförande Jenny Börjesson samt representanter från Röda Korset och Malmö stad.

60 million people in the world are currently displaced – fleeing war and oppression, the highest number since the Second World War. Staff and students at Malmö University are now starting an appeal for human rights under the initiative Malmö University for Refugees.

We invite all students and staff to an open meeting about the initiative ”Malmö University for Refugees”. Thursday, September 10, 12.00 at the Student Union Building (Bassängkajen 8).

The meeting is held by Malmö University’s Vice Chancellor, representatives from the Student Union, The Red Cross and the City of Malmö, as well as fellow staff and students.

Insamling för Röda Korset – Fundraiser to Red Cross

Malmö högskola har startat en insamling för Röda Korset till förmån för arbetet med att hjälpa människor på flykt. Vi skickar en uppmaning till andra lärosäten att göra detsamma. Malmö högskolas mål är att samla in 500 000 kronor innan läsårets slut.

Malmö University has started a fundraiser in favor of the Red Cross’ efforts to help refugees. We are challenging other universities to do the same! Our goal is to raise 500 000 SEK before the end of the academic year.

Call for Proposals to Malmö University and Rochester Institute of Technology Partnership Symposium
RIT Campus, October 8 – 10, 2015

This year’s Symposium will be hosted by RIT. It is designed primarily to build on and bring to fruition already-established collaborative initiatives, but also to invite new contributions that extend the partnership in strategically important directions. The symposium is driven by the partnership’s commitment to support the following four Malmö University/RIT Partnership goals:

  1. joint research projects
  2. collaborative course development
  3. curricular integration opportunities
  4. enhancement of student and faculty mobility

The themes for this year’s Symposium are the following:

  • Conceptions and Practices of “nature”: urban and non-urban environments; industrial and post-industrial environments; the wild and the cultivated; constructing and crossing boundaries—the local and global.
  • Making and Managing Bodies: their circulation in urban space; green clothing initiatives; sexology; nationalized, colonized, and migrating bodies; forms of identity construction.
  • Effects and Implications of new Technologies: gaming; mapping/producing space; managing people and privacy; improving infrastructure; transforming authorship, collaborative pedagogy; multi-media platforms; imaging practices.
  • Forms and Practices of Sustainability: architecture; urban agriculture; housing and real estate; health systems; engineering systems; interactive design.

PLEASE CONSIDER PROPOSING, in one or two paragraphs, a Labinar and/or Study-Visit that addresses one or more of the four goals mentioned above and is set within one of the symposium themes.

Proposals will be reviewed by the MU/RIT Partnership Academic Council.

The symposium is free of charge, but travel and hotel is covered by each MaH participant/institution respectively.

Open for all interested – there is no fee but travel and accomodation expenses must be paid for and organized by each participant.
