The department of Urban Studies welcomes you to the first seminar in the seminar series Religion and Modernity: “Islam and modernity“.

Discussant: Salahuddin Barakat, imam, Islamakademin.
Moderator: Jonas Alwall, Sociologist of Religion, Senior Lecturer, Department of Urban Studies, Malmö University.

Georg Cavallar (1962), Associate Professor in Modern History at the Department of History, University of Vienna, Austria, has published on Kant’s political philosophy, the history of international law, and the philosophy of cosmopolitanism.

Among his publications are: Kant’s Embedded Cosmopolitanism: History, Philosophy and Education for World Citizens and Theories of Dynamic Cosmopolitanism in Modern European History.  More recently, Cavallar has published on modernity, the Enlightenment, and Islamic cultures. He is currently working on an introduction to philosophy.
