An invitation from Global Political Studies:

Dear All,

Considering the increasing tensions in the post-Soviet area and recent events in the Crimea and Ukraine, many among our staff and students have expressed a wish to discuss the matter in an informed but informal forum.

Therefore we (Derek & Ane) would like to invite all staff and students to a symposium on the recent developments in Ukraine on Friday 23 May, starting at 1500 hours (3pm), in room 525. All are welcome.

Taking inspiration from the event’s title (a “symposium” was originally an Ancient Greek gathering to debate or entertain, and means ”drinking together”), refreshments will be available in return for a modest donation to reimburse the costs (so please bring some cash as bank cards hadn’t been invented in Classical times)!

We hope to see as many of you as possible.  Please also let your students know about it; many have expressed an interest in principle about having a Ukrainian discussion.
