Purpose

Knowledge-based Technology for Professional Development in the Construction Industry is a research project led by Malmö Högskola funded by Sveriges Byggindustrier (BI). The project brings together the Construction Management and Media Technology departments in the Faculty of Technology and Society. The project explores knowledge management for lifelong learning and training across the construction industry.
The main aims of the project are to find ways to meet the diverse challenges in the construction industry using Information Communication Technology (ICT) that include:

  • Safety
  • Professional development
  • Quality of work
  • Efficiency
  • Recruitment

Throughout the project we will focus on a few different cases together with different stakeholders to find relevant ways of approaching a problem or challenge in order to explore how ICT can be used in the construction industry. Our intention is to investigate how ICT can make information more accessible. Additionally, how ICT can be used to provide higher quality training to support daily work in the construction industry.
