$\"\"$ <\/a>On May 16, Kristian St\u00e5lne, researcher and senior lecturer at the Department of Materials Science and Applied Mathematics, is having a release event for his new book titled: Vuxen men inte f\u00e4rdig: Vuxenutveckling \u2013 stadier av komplexitet och mening<\/em>. (Approximately translated to: Adult but not completed. Adult development \u2013 stages of complexity and meaning).<\/strong><\/p>\n

WHEN AND WHERE:
\n<\/strong>Wednesday, May 16 at 17:00-19:00 in the Niagara building B2 lecture hall, Nordenski\u00f6ldsgatan 1, Malm\u00f6 University<\/p>\n

Kristian\u2019s book consists of three parts. The first part is a developmental autobiography that illustrates how a developmental journey, with accommodating crises and transformations, can be perceived from the inside. In this section, Kristian also explains why he, as a researcher with a background in engineering, set out to write a book about adult development psychology. <\/p>\n

The second part can be construed as a textbook introduction to the prevailing theories of adult development, with a focus on complex thinking and meaning-making. A central aspect in this is the individual\u2019s capacity to handle increasingly complex issues and for perspective-taking, as well as a gradually developing capacity for self-reflection.<\/p>\n

In the third part, Kristian ties the two previous sections together to show how his own personal developmental journey can be understood from an adult development perspective. The section also provides a critical discussion of the said research field. How might these insights have affected the author? In what ways do we as a society support individual development and is development as such even a desirable goal?<\/p>\n

The book is written for a broad audience including psychologists, coaches, managers, teachers, human resources-professionals working with recruitment and leadership development, students of teaching and psychology as well as people in general who are interested in psychological perspectives on personal development.<\/p>\n
