Dear All,<\/p>\n
Considering the increasing tensions in the post-Soviet area and recent events in the Crimea and Ukraine, many among our staff and students have expressed a wish to discuss the matter in an informed but informal forum.<\/p>\n
Therefore we (Derek & Ane) would like to invite all staff and students to a symposium on the recent developments in Ukraine on Friday 23 May<\/b>, starting at 1500 hours (3pm), in room 525<\/b>. All are welcome.<\/p>\n
Taking inspiration from the event\u2019s title (a \u201csymposium\u201d was originally an Ancient Greek gathering to debate or entertain, and means ”drinking together”), refreshments will be available in return for a modest donation to reimburse the costs (so please bring some cash as bank cards hadn\u2019t been invented in Classical times)!<\/p>\n
We hope to see as many of you as possible.\u00a0 Please also let your students know about it; many have expressed an interest in principle about having a Ukrainian discussion.<\/p>\n
