The actual talk will be around 45 minutes, after which will be a discussion with invited guests. There will be time for Q&As and networking after.<\/p>\n
Rob Hopkins is an independent activist and writer on environmental issues, based in Totnes, England. He is best known as the founder and figurehead of the Transition movement, which he initiated in 2005.<\/p>\n
Rob Hopkins holds a doctorate from Plymouth University (2011) on the subject of transition (Localisation and Resilience at the Local Level: The Case of Transition Town Totnes). He is a visiting fellow at Plymouth University, in July 2013 was awarded a honorary doctorate by the University of the West of England, and in October 2016, he was awarded a honorary doctorate by the University of Namur.<\/p>\n
In 2012 he was voted one of the Independent\u2019s top 100 environmentalists and one of \u2018Britain\u2019s 50 New Radicals\u2019. Hopkins have appeared on BBC Radio 4\u2019s \u2018Four Thought\u2019 and on \u2018A Good Read\u2019, appear in the French film phenomenon \u2018Demain\u2019 (\u2018Tomorrow\u2019), have spoken at TED Global once, and at 3 TEDx events. He is an Ashoka Fellow, a keen gardener and one of the founders of New Lion Brewery in Totnes and a Director of Totnes Community Development Society, the group behind Atmos Totnes, a very ambitious community-led development project.<\/p>\n
