Been a little while since my last post here during which a lot have happened, both good and bad.
On a sad note I received very sad news from my family a couple of days ago and really realized how far away from home I am.
On a more happier side of it all are that this week the lectures and tutorials commenced. First impression? I could not me more pleased! I had some problems when enrolling as some of the courses that I had chosen were no longer available or clashed with each other but I could not be any happier with the final selection. My study program will consist of a nice little mix of history, political science (IR) and anthropology to be exact and I think that they will make a great contribution to my European Studies program back in Malmö.
When not dashing around the campus (no need for a gym card here!) Ive kept quite busy playing tourist together with my boyfriend Martin in as well inner city Melbourne, the outer northern suburbs and even made it down to Brighton Beach last weekend and it still feels like I havent seen a fraction of what the city has to offer! Choosing not to live on campus have been a bit stressful as house hunting is quite a challenge Ive come to know but I really feel that the closeness to the city center and getting to live with real Melbourians (Melbourners?) have been worth the extra work.
I think that I will never really come to call Melbourne home as Im staying here such a short period of time but I am quite sure that it will make up a good home away from home during the remaining time I have left here.
Below are some pictures from my latest tourist adventures.
The first picture is down by the Yarra river in Southbank and the second from the Rod Laver Arena where the Australian Open is played. The last picture is from the Eureka Skydeck88 building which has an amazing view of Melbourne and its surroundings!
